Bristol Bisons bid for the Union Cup 2013

Bristol Bisons RFC are delighted to present their bid to host the fifth Union Cup in Bristol in 2013. The Bisons are ready to host such a prestigious tournament and take it to the next level. Six years on, the team players and supporters have made a name for themselves locally and nationally.

The Bisons took part in the 2011 Union Cup in Amsterdam with support from all in our amazing region of the UK. We have decided to build on this legacy by applying to host the 2013 Union Cup in Bristol the biggest city in the South West of England. Bristol has more rugby clubs than any other part of the UK; both rugby league and rugby union is played in the city.

The bid is backed by GRFU, RFU, Bristol City Council and many more partners. Bristol is one of Europe’s oldest cities but it has never stood still. It has renewed and regenerated itself with each generation. This can be seen not only by the architecture throughout the city, the community spirit Bristolians are famous for, and the strong emphasis on being a sustainable city. Bristol has all the facilities of a large city while keeping all the charm and friendliness of a regional town. Great transport links mean direct flights for our European friends from your home cities into Bristol’s International Airport are easy and, as Bristol is next to the M5 and M4, it is only a few hours by car from many major cities. If you wish to travel by train, you will arrive in Brunel’s iconic railway station at the heart of Bristol. London Paddington is only just 1 hour and 30 minutes away.

We have the support of the local people and Bristol City Council. Our official Facebook page for the Union Cup bid has over 500 supporters. We are asking for your support so that we can organise a truly amazing and memorable Union Cup for 2013.
