Bristol Bisons RFC the South West’s only inclusive gay team, are the newest members of Gloucestershire Rugby Football Union (GRFU).

Michalis Sanidas, Chair of the Bisons said ” We are delighted that to have been accepted to join the GRFU family This marks the perfect end to an amazing month for the team and is a testament to the hard work of all our players supporters and volunteers. It is another step towards achieving one of our key aims to strengthen our links with other local teams and to eventually join a local league”

To celebrate their GRFU affiliation, the Bisons are organising a couple of exciting events in March. On 19 March which is closing day of the Six Nations tournament, the Bisons are organising a social event for all friends and supporters. The aim will be to raise funds for the forthcoming team tour to Amsterdam, where the Bisons will defend their European title at the Union Cup on 3rd-5th June 2011

In addition the team is organising an open day on 27 March for prospective new players: Rhys Owen, Rugby Manager of the Bisons added: “The open day will be an excellent opportunity to meet the team and take part in a fun filled training session. The session will be open to both absolute beginners and those who may have not played rugby for a while!”
